LEMON
Ka Yan is a Hong Kong–born, New York–formed film director, interdisciplinary artist, and founder of KOQOON - a sensorial world of wellness and beauty rooted in embodiment, ritual, and conscious design - creating experiences that explore memory, transformation, and the deeper currents of human nature.
Across a 15-year creative trajectory in New York City, her practice has moved through filmmaking, photography, publishing, and immersive environments, tracing a continuous inquiry into belonging, impermanence, and becoming. Her visual language transmutes homeland, exile, and collective memory into forms that carry both spiritual resonance and cultural nuance.
Ka’s self-published photography book and exhibition 520 (2018), spanning a decade of work from 2009 to 2017, emerged from an intimate search for the meaning of home. The project, first presented at the MoMA PS1 Art Book Fair, is now held in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Irene Lewisohn Costume Reference Library and the Asian Art Archive in America. Her short film It’s The Most Beautiful Before It’s Gone (2021, 11 min 11 sec), supported by the New York Foundation for the Arts City Artist Corps Grant, turns its gaze toward Hong Kong at the edge of irreversible change.
Screened at the Queens Museum and venues across Manhattan, the film weaves mundane time passage against the clash of memory and loss - a meditation on impermanence.
Beginning in 2020, her practice underwent a profound internal shift. A total immersion in energetic, somatic, and ancient cosmological studies reshaped her understanding of consciousness and the body as a living, communicative intelligence. In the years that followed, she developed immersive experiences across New York and Bangkok, weaving sound, scent, food, and ritual into environments where intention and collective presence converge.
KOQOON emerges as the material continuation of this seeking - a space where the intangible and the tangible meet. Where cinema moves the body through image and time, KOQOON transmits that same intelligence into physical form. Through healing substances, ritual tools, and intentional creation, it extends Ka’s practice into an everyday lived co-creation.
Working fluidly across sensorial and material forms, Ka Yan continues to shape an ecosystem devoted to embodiment, transformation, and the Path of Becoming.
カヤン（Ka Yan）は香港出身の映画監督であり、学際的アーティスト、そしてKOQOONの創設者である。 KOQOONは、身体性・儀式・意識的デザインを核に据えた、感覚的なウェルネスと美の世界であり、記憶、変容、人間の深層を探る没入型の体験を創出している。

自主出版による写真集および展覧会「520」（2018年）は、2009年から2017年にかけての10年間にわたりニューヨークで制作された作品を収録し、「家」という概念をめぐる内的探求から生まれた。 本プロジェクトはMoMA PS1 Art Book Fairにて初公開され、現在はメトロポリタン美術館アイリーン・ルイスーン・コスチューム研究図書館およびアジア・アート・アーカイブ・イン・アメリカのコレクションに収蔵されている。短編映画「It's The Most Beautiful Before It's Gone」（2021年／11分11秒／ニューヨーク芸術財団シティ・アーティスト・コープス・グラント支援）は、不可逆的な変化の瀬戸際にある香港へと視線を向けた作品である。クイーンズ美術館およびマンハッタン各所で上映され、日常の時間の流れと記憶、喪失の交錯を織り込みながら、無常への静かな瞑想を提示している。
2020年を境に、彼女の実践は大きな内的転換を迎える。 エネルギー、身体性、古代宇宙論に関する長期的な探求を通じて、意識と身体に対する理解は再編され、身体は知性を宿す生きた媒体として捉え直されるようになる。 その後、ニューヨークおよびバンコクを拠点に、音、香り、食、儀式を織り込んだ没入型の体験を展開し、意図と集合的な存在が共鳴する場を創出してきた。
KOQOONは、この探求の物質的な延長として立ち現れる。無形と有形が交差する場において、身体的な感覚を起点とした新たな表現を提示する。 映像が時間とイメージを通して身体に働きかけるのに対し、KOQOONはその知性を物理的なかたちへと転写する。 癒しの素材やリチュアルツール、感覚的な創造を通じて、その実践は日常の中で生きられる共創へと拡張されている。
感覚と物質のあいだを横断しながら、カヤンは身体性、変容、そして「生成のプロセス」に向けたエコシステムを編み続けている。
